Mrs. Southard Retires

Dear Midway Family,

After 43 years of teaching, including 33 years here at Midway as a 3rd grade teacher, 4th grade teacher, Gifted Coordinator, and Librarian K-12, I have decided that it is time for me to retire.  I will be completing the current school year and retiring in June.  During my time at the Midway R-1 School District, I have worked with a lot of wonderful people and I have also been fortunate enough to accomplish many career goals, but my greatest educational achievement has been my students.   I plan to remain in the Midway R-1 area following my retirement.  I will be doing volunteer work with Church of the Resurrection in their Bookmobile and their Matthew’s Ministry (Special Needs Ministry) and also plan to get a part-time job in a field related to my hobbies of sewing and crafts.  You may also find me in the workshop handing out tools or holding parts as my husband, Art, continues to build street rods.  It’s been quite a ride!  Thank you for the part that you’ve played in it.

Mrs. Nancy Southard
