Pancakes with Parents

Pancakes with Parents was on Friday, October 6th and was a huge success, with 81 visitors, and 160 students and staff members attending the event. There was a lot of fun going on especially during the pancake flipping contest. Mr. Dean was the winner of the pancake flipping contest with an amazing 38 flips!

Homecoming Coronation

Brielee Hewitt and Branden Chandler were crowned Homecoming Queen and King on Friday, September 29.  The other candidates were Makenna Irvin, Landon Meerkatz, Bailey Dean, and Riley Bridgers.  

Truman Library Field Trip

The juniors and a few privileges seniors traveled to the White House Decision Center in the Truman Library on Friday, September 22. The White House Decision Center is a unique place for collaborative learning. It is a recreation of the West Wing of The White House and it challenges students to step into the roles of President Truman and his advisers to make some of the hardest choices ever faced by a world leader. The White House Decision Center offers grants to first time attendees that pays for the program, bus ride, the substitutes, and lunch for the students.

Midway Juniors and Seniors Attend College Fair

On Sept 21, all Midway juniors and seniors attended a college fair at Harrisonville High School. The busses left at 11:15 and took the students to the park to have lunch, and then to the high school. At the college fair, students were able to meet with representatives from over 50 universities all across Missouri and Kansas, different branches of the military, trade schools, and community colleges.

Senior Jade Lambertz said, “All in all, it was a good experience to see what the different colleges had to offer.”



Powderpuff 2017

            On Wednesday, September 20 Midway’s student government hosted a Powderpuff game between girls in all grades. There were two teams, White and Blue, who played against each other in two 20 minute halves. White team came out on top, with a final score of 26-12.


 

FBLA Day at the K

On September 13th, 5 FBLA members went to the FBLA Day at the K for a presentation on sports marketing. Guest speakers talked about how they got their jobs and how students could excel and get jobs in a sports marketing position. After the presentation, the members watched the Royals vs. White Socks.




Midway Students attend Boys State

(WARRENSBURG, MO) -- Chandler Michael Stephens and Riley David Bridgers participated in The American Legion Boys State of Missouri June 17-24 on the campus of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. Stephens and Bridgers were both selected based on their leadership, citizenship, academics, and character during their junior year at Midway High School.

Yearbooks are Here!

Several yearbook staff members traveled to the Walsworth Publishing plant to pick up the 2016-2017 yearbooks on Friday, August 18.  They were sent home with students last Friday, August 25.  There are extras available to purchase.  Please contact Amy Dahman at adahman@midwayk12.net if you would like one or if you have any questions. 

   Midway Choir Students Selected to All-District Choir


Junior Jacob Puckett and sophomore Hannah Jordan will represent Cass-Midway as members of the WCMMEA All District Choir.  Hannah will be in the 9-10 Mixed Chorus and Jacob will be in the 11-12 Mixed Chorus. Jacob auditioned on Saturday, September 9 at Oak Grove to earn the right to represent Cass-Midway at this years MMEA State choir at Tan Tar A in January.  We wish him well and congratulate them both on making the district choir.
