WLC

July 2013, Cass Midway FFA members traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend the Washington Leadership Conference (WLC).

During the five-day event, (L-R) Levi Drake, Logan Mabary, Erik Nance and Jack Conklin learned how to become effective leaders by teaching them to know their purpose, value people, take action, and serve others.

During their visit to Capitol Hill, Rep. Vicky Hartzler made time in her busy schedule to meet with the FFA members.  They discussed personal experiences in family farming, initiatives impacting the farming community and leadership opportunities in public service.

The FFA members along with Megan Richner (then FFA advisor) visited several Washington DC historical locations including Arlington National Cemetery, Abraham Lincoln Memorial, Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and visited with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association office.

They leave WLC with the knowledge and the confidence to act in ways that help their schools, community, and their country.
