Vikings Caged Up the Eagles

The Vikings faced off against the Jasper Eagles October 20. The Eagles scored first off a fumble recovery with the 2-point conversion being good. The Vikings retaliated with a run outside to Xavier Mendoza and the 2-point conversion being good, ending the first quarter with a score of 8-8. The Vikings scored first with a run outside by Josh Yahing with the PAT being good. The Vikings scored again with a pass from Yahnig to Braydon Anderson with the PAT being good, ending the first half with a score of 22-8. The Vikings scored first in the second half with a run up the middle by Riley Bridgers with the PAT being good. The Vikings scored again with the PAT being no good. The Eagles scored but could not complete the 2-point conversion, ending the third quarter with a score of 35-14. The Vikings score again from another pass from Yahnig but to Dawson Driggs with the PAT being good. The Eagles scored with the 2-point conversion being good, ending the game with a score of 42-22.

The Vikings offense had a total of 395 yards, 214 yards being rushing and 181 yards being passing. Blake Scholl led the team for carries with 13 carries for 97 yards, then Moses Morrison with 9 carries for 29 yards, and Mendoza with 8 carries for 35 yards. Driggs led the team in receptions with 4 for 47 yards, then Anderson with 3 for 57 yards, and Mendoza with 2 for 30.

The Vikings defense held the Eagles to 170 yards on the night. Ike Riggs led the team in unassisted tackles with 8. Spencer Smith ended the game with 5 unassisted tackles. Cameron Stricker finished the game with 4 unassisted tackles. Stricker led the team in assisted tackles with 4. Kaylob Adams had 3 assisted tackles. Bridgers, Mendoza, and Riggs all had 2 assisted tackles. The Vikings had 4 takeaways, Mendoza with 1 interception, Riggs with 2 fumble recoveries, and Justin Hineman with 1 fumble recovery.

Mason Adams had 7 kickoffs for 208 yards. Morrison had 2 kick returns for 20 yards. Yahnig had 1 punt for 15 yards.

The Vikings will stay at home to face the Lockwood Tigers, kickoff at 7pm.
