Academic Interventionist
Position Summary:
Academic Interventionist The Academic Interventionist will provide targeted academic support to high school students by supervising a structured study skills environment, monitoring academic progress, and collaborating with teachers to address missing skills and incomplete coursework. This position focuses on helping students develop organization, accountability, and learning strategies necessary for academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create plans and maintain documentation of student progress and interventions provided as part of the District’s Comprehensive Literacy Program (Reading Success Plans)
- Maintain documentation of student progress and interventions provided as part of the District’s Preferral Process (Teacher Support Team)
- Supervise and manage a designated study skills/intervention room, maintaining a structured and supportive learning environment
- Monitor student grades, missing assignments, and academic progress using the school’s learning management and grading systems
- Provide academic check-ins with assigned students to review expectations, progress, and needed supports
- Assist students in developing skills related to:
- Organization and time management
- Study strategies and work completion
- Goal-setting and academic accountability
- Communicate and collaborate with classroom teachers to:
- Clarify missing assignments or skills
- Identify patterns of academic concern
- Support consistency between intervention and classroom expectations
- Support students in prioritizing coursework and developing plans to address missing or late work
- Communicate with counselors, administrators, and support staff as needed to ensure coordinated academic support
- Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in all student interactions
- Perform other duties as assigned that support student academic success
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (education or related field strongly preferred)
- Experience working with secondary students in an educational or support role
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Familiarity with grading platforms, learning management systems, and basic data tracking
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple students and priorities effectively
Activities Director
Activities Director Reports to:
High School Principal (Primary) & Superintendent (Secondary)
Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Education or higher and current teaching certification.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in coaching and/or athletic administration.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to supervise others.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to work with students, faculty, and the general public in a diplomatic, friendly, and efficient manner. Or
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience

Essential Functions:
- In conjunction with coaches, schedules all interscholastic athletic contests for grades 6-12.
- Hires officials for all home athletic contests; verifies officials on game day.
- Schedules necessary personnel, including gatekeepers, scorers, clock operators, and chain crews, to work at home contests; verifies workers on game day.
- Establishes budgets for all activities; reviews/approves purchaser orders for equipment and supplies for activities.
- Maintains current inventories for each sport.
- Advertises athletic staff vacancies; receives applications; oversees the screening process; schedules interviews; makes recommendations for filling vacancies.
- Determines student eligibility in regard to MSHSAA and Midway R-1 standards.
- Works as liaison between the activity staff and administration.
- Works in conjunction with the speech and music department to establish contest and concert dates and gym availability.
- Coordinates with the technology director for all gym use and updates the master calendar.
- Works as the school’s official representative for athletics at all local, conference, district, and state events in the absence of building administration.
- Works in conjunction with the MSHSAA to ensure the school operates within all state guidelines.
- Works with building principals regarding fundraising activities.
- Helps supervise student activities in cooperation with building administrators.
- Coordinates all summer camps.
- Fulfills any other duties that may be assigned, dealing with the athletic/activities programs.
- Oversees Coaches and Sponsors with equipment check-ins and inventories.
- Works with each athletic program in season and out of season to give direction when necessary.
- Makes recommendations on each activity coach for rehire, reassignment, or release.

Conditions and Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in temperatures that exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The work environment is frequently quite loud. The employee will be regularly working under deadlines.
Evaluation of Performance and Employment:
The evaluation of performance will be conducted by the High School Principal. The Director will be considered for employment at the regular March meeting of the Board of Education, as per the recommendation of the High School Principal.
7-12 Science
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Midway R-I School District is looking for a qualified Science (7th-12th grade) instructor. We seek instructors committed to continuously improving instruction through collaboration. The Instructor is a motivated individual with a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students to love learning and excel both academically and socially while facilitating learning by meeting students where they are & guiding them to academic success. Position Responsibilities:
Establish weekly objectives that align to the Missouri Learning Standards.
Facilitate “hands-on” activities and projects that allow students to learn by doing and exploring.

Skills and Qualifications:

Elementary Teacher
Midway R-I is seeking a dedicated and energetic elementary teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This person will be able to create an engaging instructional program favorable to student achievement and personal growth, to establish rapport with students & families, and to collaborate well with colleagues. A successful candidate will be organized, motivated, and possess a positive attitude.
Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate required. This is a full-time teaching position. Duties begin August 2026.

Substitutes
Thank you for your interest in substitute teaching in the Midway School District.
To be a substitute teacher, you must have a substitute teaching certificate from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and successfully complete an FBI/Highway Patrol background check.
Substitute pay is $100 a day.
Substitute Teaching Certificate:
To obtain the substitute teaching certificate, visit the DESE website to apply. ( https://Dese.mo.gov/). If you are a certified teacher in the state of Missouri, you do not need a substitute certificate.
Fingerprint background check:
To be fingerprinted for DESE, you must register with Machs at www.machs.mo.gov. You will be required to provide the appropriate 4-digit registration code for the districts you wish to substitute in. When you contact our district office to get a substitute application, we will also give you the Midway code to register.
