• Thank you for your interest in substitute teaching in the Midway School District. 

    To be a substitute teacher, you must have a substitute teaching certificate from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and successfully complete an FBI/Highway Patrol background check. 

    Substitute teachers pay is $85 a day. Paraprofessional substitute pay is $70 a day. 

    Substitute Teaching Certificate: 

    To obtain the substitute teaching certificate, visit the DESE website to apply. ( https://Dese.mo.gov/). If you are a certified teacher in the state of Missouri, you do not need a substitute certificate. 

    Fingerprint background check: 

    To be fingerprinted for DESE, you must register with Machs at www.machs.mo.gov. You will be required to provide the appropriate 4-digit registration code for the districts you wish to substitute in. When you contact our district office to get a substitute application, we will also give you the Midway code to register. 

    To apply:

    Complete the substitute teacher application packet and return it to the District Central Office located at 5801 Mo-2, Cleveland MO 64734. You may pick up the packet at the central office or request that a packet be mailed to you by calling (816) 250-2994.
